In the heart of Gloucester, the 15th-century New Inn features a medieval courtyard, real ale pub and free Wi-Fi. There is also a traditional restaurant with period features.

It looked quaint on the web site. Staff was friendly. Easy to walk to the train station, cathedral and to the nicer part of town.

The location is great, right in the middle of the city, close to the shopping center, docks and many other attractions,
very clean rooms and very friendly staff who did their best to resolve my complaint (see below)

We liked the old town which was very pretty but not pretentious. A bit run down in places but lots of new developments too, eg the Gloucester Docks. Lots of independent pubs and restaurants, not overpriced. Friendly people. Lots of history. Everything really close to centre and quiet for a city (except for the seagulls)!

Beautiful cathedral which is what we came to see.
Beautiful cathedral which is what we came to see. Good transport links to other towns - Worcester and Tewkesbury. Docks area is attractive with restaurants, bars etc. and the area around the cathedral has some nice shops, tea rooms etc.

It’s very easy to reach Gloucester from the hotel especially if you like shopping at the Gloucester Quays. Found it very handy to get to Stroud and Painswick as well and the M5 motorway.
I personally wouldn’t use the bistro pub for meals at the Gloucester quays- the high orchard. Microwave meals with the wrong prices still in the menus and bar staff manager who couldn’t give a toss.
Cheltenham is nice to eat in if you fancy a day out and lots of dog friendly places too.

We wanted lots of choice of food and night time entertainment . Although the food we had was good in the main it was the usual branded restaurants. Night time bar entertainment very limited. Not very much high octane adventure to be had here. Won’t be rushing back

Yes gloucester is a nice area.
Yes gloucester is a nice area. But I would avoid staying at the new Inn, the management isn't fit for purpose. I've bren in other places with better management and more customer awareness. Management highly sensitive, room needs refurbishment. Just remember if you do stay there avoid saying something management doesn't like at the new inn, or you end up with a wooden bed, no shower or mattress. They get your money and you get free accommodation from his majesties police force. Don't waste your money, there is better accommodation in the area. Otherwise the area has great views, canal walks, and walks in general. And other stuff going on for it. It's a gorgeous place
Our first visit and the hotel excelled. Newly refurbished to a very high standard with communal areas that were spacious and attractive. Bedrooms were pristine. Breakfast was plentiful and a good quality with plenty of choice. Very well staffed and staff who were friendly and delivered an excellent service. Spacious car park and was excellent value for money. We would recommend without reservation and will return as Gloucester was a real find !
the husband & wife team proved to be a charming couple. Breakfast (cooked by the wife) was excellent the full Monty consisted of 2 eggs, sausage, rashers of bacon, tomatoes, beans and toast. Tea & fruit juice as normal. My room was very clean and comfortable and the bed comfortable. I have no adverse comments to make and I would certainly recommend the hotel. The cost per room, the cleanliness, the food were all of a very high standard.
The room was bijou, but had everything you'd need in a hotel room. The bath towels were a generous size and the extra blanket was very useful. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I didn't have the breakfast, but did have dinner in the bar; the Friday fish & chips deal was superb and good value for money. If I'm ever back in Gloucester I would definitely stay at The Thatch Inn again.
Our room was dated but very clean, the common parts not so clean but staff reacted quickly to spillages etc. The main plus for this Hotel is that the staff were very helpful and accomodating. There was a great atomosphere in the bar after the Gloucester/Bath Rugby match. I would recommend for a one or two night stay. The Hotel is only a few minutes walk from the Quays.
We found the Hotel easily on the main Gloucester High Street about 5 mins walk from Gloucester Quays.
24 hr Reception
Very good value for a one night stay passing through Gloucester
The Room had a fridge and microwave and cutlery. Good shower in the bathroom
Ground floor room overlooking a courtyard at the back of the hotel
Very well located to access the centre of Gloucester (approx 10 mins walk)
The hotel having its own parking that you didn't have to pay extra for was a bonus.
Bedroom also having its own microwave and fridge another bonus which ment we could've flexible with meals
Really nice place to stay
Good coffee provided and breakfast (extra cost) was very good with nice range of menu. The room was quite spacious with partial river view but nearby main road caused some noise in early hours of morning. Pleasant gardens, countryside around hotel.
The Spalite Hotel is perfectly located in the city center of Gloucester — makes it super easy to get to the nice areas around the docks/quays, which are literally just around the corner. The owner was super nice and the hotel room was cozy.
Great old inn in the center of Gloucester. Friendly staff. Decent drinks on tap. Full breakfast in the morning was nice. Be aware that it's an extremely old building with lots of "quirks", but that's one of the reasons to stay here.
Easy access, big car park, clean rooms, comfy beds - as you can expect from Holiday Inn Express chain. Can't fault it for 1,2 nights stay. It's basic but very solid group of hotels. Gloucester branch confirmed it all.
The hotel and spa is immaculate. The staff were welcoming and helpful throughout. Our room was calm and cosy and had everything we needed. The location was perfect for a trip to either Cheltenham or Gloucester.
Good hotel in lovely setting. 10 minutes Out of town . Good large clean room. Quiet evening in residents bar, good prices.
Served our purpose well. Day and evening in Gloucester. Easy taxi links.
Beautiful location, the room and the restaurant have an amazing view of the scenery.
The hotel itself has a great location, there is parking available and the staff were great.
